Eden Prairie Polar Bear Plunge-March 13, 2010
While this post has nothing to do with Eden Prairie Homes, I feel like it is a important (and fun) cause to support.
The Special Olympics Polar Bear Plunge is taking place at Round Lake Park, in Eden Prairie, at 12 pm on March 13, 2010. Come out and support this worthwhile cause. Bring the family. You can sponsor someone taking the plunge or sign up to get sponsors and take the plunge yourself!
This event is sponsored by the Minnesota Law Enforcement association as part of their year-round fundraiser to benefit Special Olympics. There are 11 such events held around Minnesota between January and March each year, all to support Minnesota Special Olympic athletes. This year’s event should be the largest yet. The Eden Prairie event is the last of this season. Don’t miss the excitement.
You can sign up to take the plunge on-line. Then use the website tools to send emails to your friends and family asking for donations, which will be tracked on your personalized website. You can even upload images and stories to customize your space.
Here are some tips for first time plungers:
- If you are wearing a costume, wear it under your clothes you bring to the event. Places to change are limited.
- Bring along a change of warm clothes for after your plunge that are easy to put on.
- We expect a large crowd, if possible carpool. We will also have shuttle buses to and from the event.
- Invite someone to watch you (and hold your clothes).
- You must where shoes to safety purposes. Plus, bring a dry pair for the ride home.
